Peer Fusion Products

A Peer Fusion Big Data storage system is a cluster of clusters.

  • There are three main software packages for Peer Fusion clusters.
  • Supra-Cluster™ Gateway software controls a series of clusters.
  • The Supra-Cluster™ software package manages the layout of data as it is stored and retrieved across multiple clusters. The client applications pass the desired data block size, resiliency level, etc., to the Supra-Clusters™ Gateways and they configure the clusters accordingly. The Supra-Cluster™ Gateways export VFS mount points that comply with the operating systems of their hosts. They are accessible across the network via the NFS and CIFS packages.

  • Cluster Gateway software controls a cluster.
  • The Cluster Gateway software package bridges the communication between client applications and the cluster as well as manage the peers in the cluster. Client applications place all filesystem commands to the Cluster Gateway and it forwards it as necessary to the peers. The Cluster Gateways export VFS mount points that comply with the operating systems of their hosts. They are accessible across the network via the NFS and CIFS packages.

  • Peer software controls a peer.
  • The Peer software package performs two main functions. First it implements all filesystem requests from its Cluster Gateway as well as supporting encoding, on-the-fly repairs and healing. All these actions require interfacing with the local filesystem. Second it implements a filesystem to provide access to local data to client applications. The peers export VFS mount points that comply with the operating systems of their hosts. They are accessible across the network via the NFS and CIFS packages.
