The Peer Fusion File System: PFFS®.

A parallel file system for cluster virtualization:

Resides on the cluster gateways:
The PFFS® runs on the cluster gateways as the interface for NFS and CIFS clients to access the cluster. Each gateway can access multiple PFFS® clusters and each PFFS® cluster can be divided into multiple virtual clusters.
Exports file system semantics:
The PFFS passes all ANSI file system commands to the cluster and the results back to the requester. All commands are made parallel for the cluster and the results are received in parallel from the peers and collated for the requester. This highly advanced technology (multiple patents filed) ensures that I/O are streamlined and efficient. Each peer in the cluster performs only the part of the I/O that is relevant for its local storage. All peers share the I/O workload equally, except for small I/O footprints that may not require the participation of all peers.
Manages cluster-wide administrative tasks:
The PFFS® interfaces with the PFAdmintool for cluster administration tasks such as healing and re-striping.

The Peer Fusion Cluster Topology.

Peer Fusion gateways support NFS and SMB requests. PF peers use ZFS to store data.
